Tom Barnes wins the Roux Scholarship 2014. Tom Barnes, sous chef at Simon Rogan’s two-Michelin-starred L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria, has won the 2014 Roux Scholarship. He beat five other finalists who all prepared ‘Chartreuse of quail and sweetbreads with grape sauce’ at a cook-off held at Westminster Kingsway, London on Monday 14 April.
Six national finalists announced. After two regional finals, including a tough mystery box dessert challenge, involving lime, pears and coffee, the Roux Family are delighted to announce the six chefs who will compete for the title of Roux Scholar 2014.

The hunt is on for the 30th Roux Scholar! Guest judges for this extra special 30th anniversary year are Rick Stein & Angela Hartnett who join the Roux family and other top chefs including Brian Turner, James Martin and Andrew Fairlie. Michel Roux Jr said: "Stone bass is such a versatile fish that can take strong flavours, I am expecting imaginative recipes to delight the judges on this special anniversary year."
Roux Scholar, Adam Smith of The Ritz, heads to Le Meurice, Paris with Yannick Alléno. Michel Roux: "When Adam told me where he wanted to go I was delighted to see the pendulum swing back from recent visits to the USA, to the capital of gastronomy. Yannick Alléno is extremely creative and his food is innovative and exciting"
The Roux Scholars Club jet off to Japan. Michel Roux and Michel Jr are hosting the biennial culinary study tour to Japan where they will be joined by fellow judge Brian Turner and 12 previous winners who all fly to Tokyo next week, courtesy of sponsor Virgin Atlantic Airways.

Winner Announced. Twenty-four year old Adam Smith, premier sous chef at The Ritz Hotel, has won the 2012 Roux Scholarship.

Six Finalists Announced. After two Regional heats, which this year included a particularly tough mystery box challenge, the Roux Family are delighted to announce this years six finalists for The Roux Scholarship 2012.

18 Regional Finalists Announced. The juges have announced the list of Regional Finalists for 2012 Roux Scholarship competition.
The 2012 Roux Scholarship - the 29th since Andrew Fairlie first won in 1984, has been announced by the Roux family.
