2017 Roux Scholarship Finalists
Matthew Whitfield, The Driftwood Hotel, Portscatho, Cornwall
Matthew competed in the Birmingham semi-final at University College Birmingham.
Matthew was in the regional finals in both 2011 and 2012, he used to work at The Montagu Arms for Matthew Tomkinson, the winner in 2005.
Speaking afterwards he said, “I entered in 2011 and 2012 and didn’t get through and then went and worked away for a while. I decided to have another go this year because due to my age this is my last chance. I’m very happy to get through and hope to try and enjoy the final.”
Judging in Birmingham were Michel Roux Jr, Brian Turner, Sat Bains, André Garrett.
No one went home empty handed; each competitor received a commemorative certificate signed by all the judges and a selection of great prizes from our sponsors.
