Roux Scholarship Prizes 2013
The winner receives £5,000, to support their career development & an invitation to cook and train under the supervision of a leading chef at a prestigious 3-star Michelin restaurant anywhere in the world for up to three months. This is courtesy of the Savoy Educational Trust.
In addition the 2013 Roux Scholar will receive:
- An invitation for two to enjoy a Tasting Menu, with complimentary wines at Roux at Parliament Square, courtesy of Restaurant Associates.
- An exclusive Jeroboam of Gosset Grande Réserve NV, signed by all the judges.
- An all expenses paid trip for two to visit the wine cellars of Gosset at Epernay, including a guided tour of the production process, a tasting of the Gosset range. Travel by Eurostar and overnight accommodation with bed and breakfast, courtesy of Champagne Gosset.
- An invitation for two to Rick Stein's in Padstow Cornwall including two nights accommodation at either The Seafood Restaurant or St Petroc's Hotel, a three course dinner with a bottle of wine at The Seafood Restaurant and two places on a one-day cookery course at Padstow Seafood School. - A trip for two to visit the Caffé Musetti roasting factory with flights, transfers and a night's accommodation in Milan, courtesy of L'Unico.
- A subscription to Caterer and Hotelkeeper for one year.
Plus two tickets to Caterer and Hotelkeeper’s annual awards, the Cateys, which this year – like the Roux Scholarship – celebrate their 30th anniversary. Known as the hospitality industry’s Oscars, the exclusive event takes place at Grosvenor House in July
- A Global Knives selection of 8 limited edition exclusive Global Sai knives, a Global Magnetic wall rack and a minosharp whetstone and whetstone holder.
- A day’s work experience and dinner for 2 in Kikkoman’s partner restaurant The Matsuri, a traditional Japanese sushi and Teppan-yaki restaurant in Mayfair – courtesy of Kikkoman.
- A copy of both editions of the Bridor Meilleur Ouvrier de France recipe books
- Registration on the Best Practice Forum’s “Professional Hospitality Management Development Programme” in conjunction with University of West London. This includes a Management Study Unit of your choice , courtesy of Hospitality and Leisure Management.
- One year's complimentary membership of The Institute of Hospitality.
- Two personalised, Roux Scholarship, chef's jackets, courtesy of B Original.
Will receive a coffee machine and coffee worth £2,000 from L'Unico (Caffé Musetti)
All National Finalists will receive:
- A commemorative certificate, signed by the judges
- £1,000 bursary from the Savoy Educational Trust, to be used towards furthering their career development.
- A bottle of Champagne Gosset Grande Réserve NV.
- Three limited edition exclusive Global Sai Knives, courtesy of Global Knives.
- A copy of both editions of the Bridor Meilleur Ouvrier de France recipe books
- One year's complimentary membership of The Institute of Hospitality
- Two personalised, Roux Scholarship, chef's jackets, courtesy of B Original.
Regional Finalists
All regional finalists will receive:
- A commemorative certificate, signed by the judges
- A voucher from Russums to the value of £100 to be used for equipment or books, courtesy of the Savoy Educational Trust
- A limited edition exclusive Global Sai knife, courtesy of Global Knives
- A Moka pot and coffee from L'Unico (Caffé Musetti)
- A ‘farm to fork’ experience courtesy of Fairfax Meadow. Includes a visit to the farm and abattoir in Bristol, plus a day trip to the Fairfax Meadow Factory in Kentish Town, London where skilled butchers will present a meat cutting demonstration of beef and lamb.
