My name is Steve Love, I won the Roux Scholarship in 1997 while I was working at Ettington Park, near Stratford upon Avon.
I have recently joined the Cotswold House Hotel, in Chipping Campden as head chef. The hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World Group.

The food I am cooking now is a direct result of the opportunities that I received when I won the Roux Scholarship. By wining the award, I went to work with Alain Ducasse in Paris when he had his 3 Michelin starred property there. When I returned to England, as a direct result of my experience in Paris, I worked with Gary Jones at Waldos in Clivedon as his Sous Chef and then became Head Chef at Mallory Court in Warwickshire. The continuous and consistent support that I receive from both the Scholarship and from Michel Roux himself has given me the confidence to progress at every level of my career. Michel is always on the other end of the phone to talk to if I need him and that means a lot to me.
Being a Roux Scholar is not only something to be proud of, it is also a tremendous achievement in the industry and as such, is something that makes people sit up and take notice of you. The publicity that the award has brought me has made it possible to raise the profile of my own business and keep people coming to dine with me.
