Champagne Gosset

Champagne Gosset is delighted to continue its long association with the Roux Scholarship. International Director Philippe Manfredini comments; “We have been supporting the Roux Scholarship for many many years and are thrilled to continue our partnership into 2011. The Scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for all the chefs involved and it offers them an invaluable insight into the world of the top chefs. One of the best things about the Scholarship is that the relationships, both personal and business, last a lifetime – we still work with many of the earlier Scholars and they are always so keen to continue their association with Gosset because of the support we have given the Scholarship.”

Champagne GOSSET is the oldest wine house in Champagne established in Aÿ in 1584. Originally solely situated in the tiny Grand Cru village of Aÿ, Gosset has recently completed the acquisition of substantial premises in Epernay.  Domaine Gosset is a historic building dating back to the 19th Century with 1.5km of cellars up to 20 metres in depth beneath the building for storing and ageing the seven cuvées produced.

All Gosset champagnes are recently disgorged and the house avoids malolactic fermentation. This preserves acidity which in turn keeps the wine fresh for much longer. The Gosset style is very creamy, dry but not acidic, full, biscuity and yeasty. All cuvées have good bottle age and the champagnes are excellent by themselves or the perfect accompaniment to a wide range of dishes – something which has not gone unnoticed by several of the chefs involved with the Roux Scholarship! Gosset’s most famous cuvee the Gosset Grande Réserve (a jeroboam of which is just one of the fabulous prizes for the winning scholar) was awarded ‘La Grappe d’Or’ by the Guide Hachette 2010 for the Best Wine of the Year from a line- up of 36,000 wines. That is quite an impressive feat!
