Pravin Sharma was sous chef at Silk, the fine dining restaurant at the Courthouse Hotel Kempinksi, Great Marlborough Street.
As part of his stage, he spent a month in the kitchens of 3 star Michelin, The Fat Duck in Bray, under the watchful eyes of then Scholarship judge Heston Blumenthal.
He then spent two months in Brittany, at Les Maisons de Bricourt, in Cancale, which won its third Michelin star in 2006.
He was much liked and admired by everyone who met and worked with him and he was destined for great things. Sadly, Pravin was diagnosed with leukaemia in April 2007 and lost his fight against the disease less than four months later.
